Makes my morning!

Monday mornings are a challenge.  E-Mails from the weekend and messages galore.

This made it a nicer morning.

Thanks Jenny for the wonderful note!  And I will work on the photos.  I agree, they mostly do not do the dresses justice.

I just received my daughter's dress and I'm extremely pleased with it!!!  Thanks so much for all of your assistance, your staff was prompted to respond to my questions and helpful even thou I changed my order.  Being an international buyer I was a bit worried however I would recommended Elite Dresses to anyone.  The service was terrific and the shipping costs were very reasonable.  The dress I ordered was just as described however more beautiful then photoed.  I will definitely be purchasing more dresses in the future.

Valentine's Day Is Also For The Family

I really appreciate schools that make an effort to encourage families to celebrate Valentine's day by simple or elaborate school programs.

One school I know will have Valentine's Dance where families will be invited to mingle with other families and teachers. Another had this cute envelopes sent to each family. The family then needs to complete the sentence, LOVE IS _____________________ then put a small chocolate or candy inside the envelope. The teachers will then send the envelopes to different families! :)

Very cute and sweet gestures but I think it fosters love and care among family members.

This is my inspiration for making, Valentine's Day Sale as theme of the week. You can buy special party dresses for your little girls without breaking the bank.

Have fun guys!

Prayers For Babies and Mothers

I would like to share prayers for babies and mothers that was sent to me.

Prayer for Motherhood
O good St Gerard, powerful intercessor before God and wonder worker of our day, confidently I call upon you and seek your aid.  On Earth you always fulfilled God's designs, help me now to do the holy will of God.  Implore the Master of Life, from whom all paternity proceeds, to render me fruitful in offspring, that I may raise up children to God in this life, and in the world to come, heirs to the Kingdom of His Glory.
Amen.

Prayer for a Safe Delivery
O great Saint Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of your meek and humble Savior, and devoted child of Mother of God, enkindle within my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of charity which glowed in your heart and made you an angel of love.
O glorious Saint Gerard, because when falsely accused of crime, you did bear, like your Divine Master, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men, you have been raised up by God as the patron and protector of expectant mothers.
Preserve me from danger and from the excessive pains accompanying childbirth, and shield the child which I now carry, that it may see the light of day and receive the purifying and life-giving waters of baptism through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer in Thanks of a Safe Delivery
Good Saint Gerard, patron of mothers, assist me in thanking God for the great gift of motherhood. During the months of my waiting, I learned to call upon you and placed the safety of my child and myself under your powerful protection. The great lesson of your trust in God sustained me; your slogan, "God will provide," became my hope and consolation. I thank God for my child and for motherhood. Help me to prize the great treasure of motherhood and obtain for me the grace to raise my child as a child of God.
Amen.

Prayer for a sick child
O most beloved Saint Gerard, who, like the Savior, loved children and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death, listen to us who are pleading for our sick child. We thank God for the great gift of our son/daughter and ask God to restore our child to health if such be the holy will. This favor we beg of you through your love for all children and mothers.
Amen

Choosing The Best Flower Girl Dress

Choosing a flower girl is a great way to show a little girl in your life how special she is to you. The flower girl usually makes an appearance after the maid of honor has walked down the aisle. Her presence signals the bride’s arrival as she prepares the path for the bride by sprinkling flower petals along the aisle. She is usually dressed in white, and looks similar to a miniature version of the bride. One of the fun parts of planning a wedding for the bride is choosing one out of the many flower girl dresses for the little girl to wear that compliments the brides dress and/or the colors the bride has picked for the wedding. Some might be surprised at how much preparation and planning needs to happen in order to get the little flower girl ready for her moment in the big day.

A flower girl is usually as young as 3 years old and can be as old as 8. She can come from the family of a close friend or she can be a member of your own family, like a niece or a cousin. Whomever you chose, she is sure to be adorable and will easily put a smile on the faces of those who attend the ceremony. Even though they are cute, small children are likely to act up at some point. The bride can prepare for this in advance by sitting down with the little one and going through the role of a flower girl, maybe with the help of a fun picture book about this part of the ceremony.
The bride should designate one of the bridesmaids to keep an eye on the flower girl and hold her hand if needed. If she starts fidgeting or misbehaving, the bridesmaid should bring the flower girl to her parent’s pew, where she should sit for the duration. Seat her parents on the aisle, near the front so that she can see them when she walks down the aisle and during the ceremony itself. Also, make sure she uses the restroom before the ceremony. Most of all don’t be too nervous that she will make a mistake. If she dumps all her petals at the start of the aisle, runs instead of walks, or even starts to cry, guests will think it’s cute.
Having a flower girl in your wedding is just an option. If you do not have a young one close to you, or maybe you have too many and you don’t want to upset anyone by picking just one, then it is perfectly fine to go without. If you have someone in mind who is a tad older than flower girl age just simply find another position for her in your ceremony. Maybe, make her an usher, gift taker, greeter, or junior bridesmaid. If you do choose to have a flower girl she will make a great addition to your photos and it would be very cute to see her take part in he first dance. The ceremony and reception might possible wear your little one out. Don’t be surprised if her parents decide to take her home early. As another option provide a babysitting service if you are able. This way the flower girl will have plenty of kids to play with and your guests will be able to enjoy more of their time amongst adults.

It can be fun to pick the flower girl’s dress. Usually the bride will pick a small version of her dress for the flower girl. Or the bride can pick a simple white dress with a sash that will match her wedding colors. Some brides even pick a smaller version of the bridesmaid’s dresses for the little one. Dressing the flower girl in white is probably the most popular idea. White symbolizes purity and sweetness. Whatever dress you choose just make sure it is an age appropriate version and not necessarily an exact match of what the adult ladies are wearing. The dress should be comfortable and of course not too long with some simple age appropriate jewelry to compliment it. No matter what look you pick for the little one, she is sure to be a big hit. Having a flower girl at your wedding can add to the fun. It will make a day for her remember and cherish almost as much as you do!

How to Cook Nian Gao or Chinese New Year Cake

Nian Gao or often called Chinese New Year cake (or tikoy for Filipino-Chinese friends) is made of glutinous rice flour that's popular during Chinese New Year because apparently it's homonym to "higher year" and thus brings good luck to the family. Another account say that Nian gao was used to bribe the Kitchen God who reports anyone who behaves badly to the Jade Emperor.

How nian gao is cooked depends from region to region but the easiest I know is deep frying it dipped in eggs.
