How to make a Chinese Bun

I am by no means a hair professional, but I like styling my daughter’s hair whenever we go to family gatherings, school plays or even to the malls. One time she was in her favorite Chinese girl’s dress for a party, so I recreated a traditional Chinese hairstyle for her--the Chinese Bun.

How to make a Chinese Bun

You need:

2-hair friendly ties

1 long hair stick

A few hairpins

1. To start with, make two braids at the nape of the neck. Be sure to make them towards the back, not the sides.

2. Weave the stick into your hair, above the braids.

3. Wind the braids symmetrically around the stick

4. Tuck the ends

5. Secure with a few hairclips, as needed.

Trivia: Did you know that the ancient Chinese believed that every part of their body was given by their parents and they had no right cut it away, including the hair?
