Barbie's Little Black Dress

The classic doll updates her wardrobe by adding a little black dress to her long list outfits. Unfortunately for Mattel, Barbie’s little black dress is causing such a stir! Critics believe the plunging neckline is showing way too much. Parents are no doubt upset and horrified by Mattel’s Back to Basics line, the newest collection of Barbie dolls dressed in cocktail attire.

As a mom, I can understand the outrage from parents. There is nothing wrong with wearing fashionable black dresses as long as the dresses are appropriate for one's age. Yes, Barbie is a middle- aged doll but she happens to be the world's most popular doll for girls and so her image should be kept respectable.
Many little girls want to look and dress like her so Mattel needs to be more sensitive about this.
