A Checklist for Your Baby’s Christening

A Christening is a memorable time for every child. It is usually a time of many preparations. Since a lot can go on at the same time, here is a checklist for my fellow parents to help you get organized for your child’s special day:

• Coordinate with your Church. There is a list of requirements to be submitted, like the birth certificate, and various records of the parents. You will also need to finalize the date of the baptism, and list down the name of the godparents.
• Once the Church is settled, its time to think about what your child will wear. Children normally wear white or off-white Christening dresses to symbolize purity. You can opt for traditional long dresses, or shorter lengths (which is becoming increasingly popular).
• A small celebration usually follows the Christening. You can keep it small with just immediate family, or splurge a little by inviting a bigger crowd. Before the party begins, moms usually slip their children out of their Christening dresses and onto something more comfortable.
