Ip Man: Movie Review

Have you seen this movie? It was released 12th of December 2008 and I believe won several awards and I think they deserve it.
The movie is about a man, Ip Man, who was the grand master of Wing Chun style of kung fu and the sifu (master) of Bruce Lee when he was just starting to learn martial arts. The movie depicted an (true) event on Ip man rejecting the 'request' of the Japanese to train their soldiers (this was when I think during WWII when the Japs conquered China). Ip Man refused to fight because he belives that Kung fu is an art of protection not destruction. But when his family, friends and townsmen suffered on the hands of the Japanese and had to fight for survival, he was tested and forced to use his strength.

I liked how the actors and actresses wore their Girls Chinese dresses and outfits especially on the fighting scenes. But I especially liked how the Chinese women wore their dresses with elegance- makes me want to wear qi pao too! :)

As it is a true story, the writers and the makers said it was just 70% truth because the adaption of the real account and the dramatization should be considered- not to mention the movie has to "pass" China's approval.

Over all I am giving this movie a 9 out of 10 rating. 1 point short because it could be better :)
Now, I can't wait for the release of Ip Man part 2 (2010). Should I watch it wearing qi pao?--just to really feel it!
