The number 9 is just as lucky as the number 8, I guess. Beijing Times reported that around 20,000 couples registered to wed on September 9, 2009 (that's 9-9-09). Surprisingly, this is even higher than the registrations last August 8, 2008 (8-8-08), that had 15,000-plus registrations.
Beijing Times says that a lot of couples set up camp outside the various registration offices to ensure that they will be able to get a headstart on registering and get a license that day. I guess true love conquers all, even the lack of sleep and the night cold.
Wow, the marriage registration offices even opened after midnight to cope with the demand.
I wish all these couples the luck the number 9 can give.
