Official Mardi Gras Colors

Ever wonder what the Mardi Gras colors are and what they signify?

Mardi Gras has a rich history and origins, it has been greatly celebrated long before the New World was established. The Romans celebrated it as a merriment before the fasting and sacrifices that will occur on Lent. The French also celebrated it and in fact, a French-Canadian explorer, Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville introduced Mardi Gras in America in the year 1699.

After so many years of celebrating Mardi Gras (when it was also called in many names), Rex King arrived in the Mississippi River  and named the official colors of Mardi Gras. These are

Purple Represents Justice. Green Represents Faith. And Gold Represents Power.
