Moms play a very important role in preparing her child to receive First Communion. She has to prepare her child spiritually and physically in this most important time as a Catholic.
Let us start with preparations for the heart. It is so important that your daughter knows that she will be receiving Jesus for the first time. Take her to mass with you and sign her up for catechism classes to fully understand the Holy Eucharist.

But sometimes, the best talks are given at home. Share your own First Communion experience, and how it is a special gift that Jesus gives each child. Keeping it simple is the best route to take.

When the spirit is prepared, it is then time to wrap up the physical preparations. Make sure you get a copy of her baptismal certificate and submit it to your Church beforehand, and jot down the schedule of your Parish’s First Communion rehearsals.

A few weeks before, take time to choose her white dress from a large choice of first Communion dresses. It is a great idea to have her wear it during one or two practices, to make her feel at ease as possible. Choosing a First Communion Dress makes for an excellent bonding session for mom and daughter as well. You can go to the mall or shop online and look at many first Communion dresses for the perfect dress for your little angel.
