A
friend of mine bought her daughter an
afternoon tea party dress recently and attended her very first tea party and had a great time, but
some of the finger foods were a bit messy and some of the guests got
small food stains on their lovely party girl dresses. Thankfully the
stains were not hard to remove.
This
got me to think of finger food ideas for kids that aren't messy and a
very simple to do. Here are a few:
- Cheesy
Cracker Bites – easy and fun to make and eat. All you need are
crackers of different shape and sizes, different types of sliced
cheese like Yellow, Cheddar, Swiss, Monterey Jack (at least 2
different colors) and Easy Chesse (if you like), and small cookie
cutters in different shapes. First, heat the crackers for a minute or
so in a preheated oven, not too hot, just warm enough for the cheese
to just “sit” securely on the cracker. Next, with the cookie
cutters, cut many different shapes and sizes of the sliced cheese.
Then place the cheese on the crackers and make different designs with
the cheese. Use the spray cheese to write letters or numbers if you
want.
- Cookie
Sandwiches – a great treat for kids. All you need are cookies
(chocolate chip, vanilla and shortbread cookies work the best here)
and your child's favorite canned cake frosting. Like the name
suggests, just make a sandwich with the cookies and cake frosting.
Just be sure not to put too much, just a thin layer covering the
bottom or flat side of the cookie.

next blog will be about drinks for kids you can serve.
