Just asking, but is United Nations Day celebrated in your kids' school? I've been doing the rounds in the interwebs and found a few pictures. So far, I've seen 1 or 2 pictures from the US, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.
The United Nations Day is celebrated during the 24th of October. It's a good time to learn about flags, their costume, location, specialty/ goods of the country and other facts.
All the kids are so cute during UN Day Celebrations!
Usually, kids dress up in the national dresses of the different countries. One time, my child dressed up in the Poland national costume. My niece also attended one year in a Chinese dress pants set.
Other kids celebrate UN Day in their usual school attire, but they also hold activities such as parades and programs.
UN Day in schools is a nice time to learn about different places, but most important, it is a time to impart to the children that everybody, regardless where they come from, are living, feeling human beings who have privileges and responsibilities to help make the world better.
Please share pictures of your kids during their UN Day celebration. That will surely be fun.
If you're looking for a
Chinese cheungsam dress or Vietnamese dress (Ao Dai) for your little girls (and boys) to use for United Nations Day, you know
where to go ;-)
