My best friend is getting
married next week. This was particularly tough to plan as she
scheduled her wedding on a Monday, and worse, out-of-town. But I love
her dearly and I am ready to take two days off work to share her
special moment with her.
As I sat down with her to
iron out last minute wedding details, I was so surprised at how well
and how cost-effective her wedding plans came out. Here are some tips
she shared with me:
- She bought her dresses in
bulk. She sourced her wedding, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses
from one supplier. She also ordered in advance as to avoid rush fees.
This also ironed out the stress of the outfits early on. She received
her dresses a month before her wedding and sent them out with plenty
of time to spare.
- She scheduled her wedding on
a Monday afternoon. Weekday weddings are usually less expensive
because people normally book weekends for special occasions. It's
like getting an off-peak rate from your suppliers and caterer.
- Even if her wedding was
out-of-town, she didn't spend a fortune on hotel room accommodations.
She opted to rent a house nearby the wedding venue that was big
enough to house her, her family, and a few guests.
- She asked a relative with a
good eye for photos to be her official photographer. And then she
bought several disposable cameras so that all of the guests can take
snapshots of her big day. It's a small wedding of about 50 people,
but that means you get at least 12 unique shots from each guest.
