There are so many girls party dresses available today. You can buy one practically anywhere, and you have all the colors of the rainbow to choose from. It always makes me happy looking at the personal rack of dresses I have for my store, EliteDresses.com. Ever since I was a child, I obsessed about laces, ribbons, and color. And I just feel so happy my current work involves seeing my favorite things on a daily basis.

I do not necessarily call myself conservative, but a recent trip to the mall left me in shock. I was surprised to see the variety of designs and styles for girls party dresses. Some, I found, were too mature for younger ages, even bordering on sexy. And this made me wonder what my fellow moms thought about the matter. Here is what they had to say:
Angela, mom of Drea, 7 years old:
“It’s a constant effort to get my girl to dress her age, especially when malls are filled with hot pants and short shorts. You have to compromise a little, especially if those are what fashion dictates. But I always make sure her clothes are never too revealing”.

Gigi, mom of Francine, 4 years old:
“I’m enjoying every moment that I can pick something out of a store and my daughter will think it’s the coolest dress in the world. I’d say Francine has her own fashion sense now, but somehow she dresses well, as long as it’s in pink”.

As for myself, I don’t want to be called prude, but I think there are certain styles that fit certain age groups. It’s up to us moms to give the right upbringing and guidance on what we think is right, and we just have to have faith that our daughters will wear what is sensible.
