Cross-cultural weddings on the rise
Cross-cultural weddings on the rise - From the Vancouver Sun.
Vancouver has lots of Chinese from HK. Great quote - "The challenge is to not offend anybody and to not miss a detail that would matter."
The wedding in the article was part Catholic - ie same as American Wedding Traditions and Customs and then has a Chinese part with Lion Dancing (I have not seen that before), with Chinese Wedding Traditions and Customs. This included the part about bribing his way in with red envelopes and such, and then added some Sri Lankan wedding traditions and customs.

Amish Wedding Feast
Amish Cook: From wedding feast to a treat for kids
Wow!
Wow!
- 320 pounds of chicken were fried for the noon meal.
- Three 20-quart kettles of potatoes were cooked as well.
- Gravy, noodles and mixed vegetables were made. All of that was served along with lettuce salad, carrot salad, cheese, cakes, pies, tapioca pudding, a fresh fruit mixture and cookies.
- The same menu was served for the evening meal with ham and ice cream.

Indian Weddings
Excess not on the radar as Indian brides prepare for their big day - The Age, Australia.
Wow on the expense! Many Indians also consult an astrologer for a lucky day, as is done in Chinese Culture.

Before the Wedding in India
In India, pre-wedding investigations are big business from eTaiwan News. Sounds like a good idea, especially with marriages arranged through newspapers and the Internet. It's nice to find out what is true, and what is not.

A Big Fat Greek Wedding
Josée's Big Fat Greek Wedding from the Vancouver Sun. A lucky couple won the prize of having a dream wedding, so they had one. A relative in Cyprus was having a wedding with over 3000 guests! My Big Fat Greek Wedding is one of my favorite movies.

The big fat Indian wedding
The big fat Indian wedding from the Economic Times, India. Costs are increasing by 20% per year as they become bigger and bigger. Interesting to contrast the expenses with the typical US wedding.

Ethnic Weddings - Somali
Somali wedding ceremonies — an ‘unnecessary extravaganza?’- nice article, I do question the part of the title that says an ‘unnecessary extravaganza? Compared to the average cost of a US wedding, a Somali wedding in the US is actually cheap.
