Video Problems

I just bought a new computer so I could finally do my wonderful video on how to tie a bow. The Flower Girl Dresses I sell all have bow. Minor problem, the new computer does not want to talk to my camera. JVC points the finger at the Apple. I just want to make it work! The reason I bought the Apple was I wanted something that just works, and my hubby liked getting out of the home tech. support business. Unfortunately, he just got re-hired to do tech support for my computer so this problem gets fixed!

Reception Line - Coloring Page Misunderstanding

I am having a new coloring page for the reception line done for my Wedding Coloring Pages that are free and Printable , the picture looked great, but it was not what I expected.

Any guesses?

It was for a Chinese reception line, where the bride gives candys after the banquet.

Burgundy Flower Girl dresses or a deep red are popular this time of year, as is the usual pink pink flower girl's dresses. Black Flower Girl Dresses seems to be an up and coming color.

So having prepared activities that will keep them out of trouble and still let them enjoy the festivities helps. This wedding coloring booklet can help occupy the little girls while everybody else celebrates.

Flower Girl Dresses - Deciding Colors

Some research for an article I am going to write on selecting Colors for a Flower Girl Dress

So far the advice seems to be disagreeing. One likes black, one likes red... With black, White, Pink, and Red are good matches. Which is good, since my Black Flower Girl dress has ivory flowers.

Another web site mentions how you should take into account your skin color.

Spring and Summer is usually bright colors.
Winter is more the Oranges, Greens, purples, yellows, and Reds. Harvest colors.

Three wedding colors should be the maximum.

And then if you have a theme, this may set the wedding colors. Such as if you are doing a particular era. Colors also vary geographically, different areas of the US favor different colors.

A color wheel is a way to see which colors match each other, and which should be avoided. If the colors are opposite each other on a color wheel, they are OK. Or next to each other.

Mock Chinese Wedding

CSA hosts mock Chinese Wedding -I wish they had pictures! Chinese Students Association Web page that hopefully will have pictures soon.

Being a bit nit-picky... The ceremony is usually for close family as is the tea ceremony. The food served during a Chinese Wedding Banquet, is highly symbolic and different than served. The games, umm, I have not seen those at the Chinese Wedding I have been at!

Another Day I learn something New

I found out something about my e-commerce system I did not know on the settings that were affecting one dress in clearance (which explains why it never sold), so now I know and the customer whom pointed out the ordering problem can now buy the dress they want so there is a happy ending.

Historic village celebrates holiday is adding tradition wedding to the celebration for Thanksgiving. Should be neat! Old Sturbridge Village in MA. Early New England weddings were often held at Thanksgiving, when families gathered together after the hard work of the harvest was done.

Wedding costs take the cake from New Zealand. There is higher prices for weddings that for birthdays, family reunion, etc. Interesting! I wonder if the same is true in the US. My guess is since people are willing to pay more for a wedding, prices are also higher in the US. Wedding Traditions and Customs can get so involved. American Wedding Customs and tradtitions have a lot of complexity in them, but the prices for weddings can vary depending on how traditional you want to make them, not to mention the newer ideas such as wedding favors and other added items that have brought weddings up to the $28,732.

I have noticed an uptick in sales and interest in my Black flower girl dress. This is a cute Flower Girl Dress Coloring Page that could be colored in black, but captures the flower girl's dresses style.

Black Flower Girl Dresses - First one sold!

I sold my first Black Flower Girl Dress today - I am so excited about this. I was honestly not sure about a black girl's dress, it is really cute, but my supplier sold me on it.

Something new I am doing is with each dress for younger girl's I am including one of my coloring pages of the girl's dress in there. I like the idea where the little girl gets the dress, and also a coloring picture of the dress.

Chinese Wedding Sites

I was researching for my Chinese Wedding Coloring Pages that are Printable! and Chinese Wedding Customs and Traditions and came across this site by The Knot. Chinese Weddings by the Knot

Truthfully, the site overall was a disappointment. They took some content from their bulletin boards, a little new content, and some advertising and graphics and you to have a site. The pictures of couple are nice. Their article on Chinese Dresses, QiPao's was disappointing, as was their page on Wedding customs. The one on the tea ceremony was good

This is a neat article from a UK site about Weddings, it focuses more on the superstitions some of which are in US weddings, and some I have never heard of.

Yao ethical wedding in Rongshui County, southwest China's Guangxi - great pictures!  There are 4 picutrs of this ethnic Yao Wedding.  The people remind me of Burmese.

Wedding Tradition, and Girl's Dress Articles

Articles and References for Girl's Dresses is a section I problem should reformat.  There is so much neat information here, but the titles and even order on the page problem need to be adjusted.  I did adjust some these already:

American Wedding Customs and Traditions is better, I need to go through all my articles and titles and such and improve them.  And every time I read them, I always add more.  It's amazing how easy it is to add more and more on anything related to Weddings Customs and Traditions, even Chinese Wedding Customs and traditions which I know a tremendous amount about, I seeing new traditions since China has so many Wedding Customers and Traditions with all the different ethnic areas.

Vancouver has lots of Chinese from HK. Great quote - "The challenge is to not offend anybody and to not miss a detail that would matter."

The wedding in the article was part Catholic - ie same as American Wedding Traditions and Customs and then has a Chinese part with Lion Dancing (I have not seen that before), with Chinese Wedding Traditions and Customs. This included the part about bribing his way in with red envelopes and such, and then added some Sri Lankan wedding traditions and customs.

There is so much more to add on customs for each of them. For American I want to add more about the Flower Girl who used to scatter grain (fertility symbol) and where that role originated, the veil (protect against evil), and the bride's maids (confuse evil with which one was the bride) are a few that come to mind for American Wedding Customs and Traditions. For Chinese, there are so many regional variants on Chinese Wedding Traditions and Customs. From the poor rural areas to rich Shanghai to the new US Chinatowns wedding with banquets in HK Seafood Palaces.

The Wedding Banquet also had some interesting Chinese marriage customs in it (funny movie, especially with the cultural issues that are so true).

Funny - The Rudest Wedding Guest Remarks Ever.

The one about the guest complaining since they did not get a slice of all the 3 different kinds of cake. Sometime I heard the comment, that if you have 2 types of cake, people will want a slice of each one, so at a wedding you should just go with one type of cake for all the layers.

Me, I just had a giant carrot cake, made from scratch with real butter frosting wedding cake after my husband convinced me, our wedding coordinator for the church baked it.

200th Post!

This is my 200th post! Writing this blog sometimes is the easiest thing in the world, and other times it's pretty hard. My goal is to write about things that would be of interest to my customers, which is often about weddings. I should write more about pageants, writing about an area is a great way to learn more about them.
