Afternoon Tea Party Dress Up

One of the most fun things your daughter can enjoy this season is a summer interlude—an afternoon Tea Party Dress up especially for her.  Throwing one is easy. This would make a great theme for birthday celebrations too.  Simply ask guests to come dressed in their Sunday best or favorite girls party dress. And please don’t worry about matching teacups and saucers—unique cups are just as nice to use. You can even request kids to bring their favorite cups if they like! The idea is to serve the best food and drinks and for your daughter to have fun with all her young guests :-)

Here are some ideas to help you with your afternoon Tea Party Dress up.

Food
Prepare sweet treats like sugar cookies and chocolate cookies. You can also serve finger sandwiches. Don’t forget to serve refreshing drinks like lemonade or Iced tea.

Decorations
To help create the party mood, use pastel-colored balloons and just hang them from the ceiling above the table area. You can also use plastic teapots and cups with handles. Pink and white ribbons and streamers are also good to use. For table accents, use flower bouquets, baskets with books and fancy napkins. Chairs can also be decorated by simply covering them with curtains or drapes. Impress your guest by using your most elegant tableware too.

Games
Games are great boredom busters, so be sure to consider how much space you have for the Tea Party Dress Up.  Plan activities and games days or even weeks ahead.  Some popular Tea Party Dress Up games include dress-up, make-up and hairdos, guessing games, coin toss (into tea cups) and other parlor games. Little girls will also enjoy activities like baking cookies for the tea party, hat making and other fun kids crafts. You can also print out our free coloring pages to keep them busy.

Fun Favors
Complete the fun by giving guests party favors as souvenirs. Girly accessories like bead hair clips and ribbons are great giveaways. Other popular fun favors include lip balms, stickers, and stuffed toys.

Chinese Father's Day Coloring

Hi, all. We're putting up coloring pictures about dads and daughters in our sister site to celebrate Chinese Father's Day on the 8th of August.

Father in Chinese sounds similar to the word "8" in Chinese. Therefore it is but fitting that the day for fathers is celebrated on the 8th of the 8th.

So look up these coloring pages for Chinese Father's Day, print and hunt for those crayons. You and your child can turn these pictures into greetings for dad on Sunday.

Something to do this summer

You really don't need to spend a lot to have fun this summer. You can both sit down and do art!

Chinese Wedding coloring pages

For those who like sharing the different kinds of cultures to their kids, maybe you can share how interesting Chinese weddings are.

Everything is elaborate, the rituals, the clothes, so it'd be interesting for your child to also learn about it.

EliteDresses has propped up a coloring room devoted entirely to weddings, but we've also included a section on Chinese weddings.

Coloring Contest

I got the nicest E-Mail today!

We received the certificate of appreciation and Good Luck bauble from you guys for the "Honorable Mention" for the coloring contest. My daughter was very appreciative even though she asked, "So did everyone who lost get one of these?" (She's 5.) It did make her smile.

The contest was a good experience for her since she got to experience not winning, and also see what the winning entries looked like.

It was a lot of work to create individual certificates for everyone who mailed in an entry for the coloring contest, but this E-Mail shows why it was the right way to do things.

Engagement Contest

Wedding Paper Divas is doing an engagement story contest, looking for the best story. They already have great stories submitted. The company does beautiful wedding invitations.

Contests are nice, but they are a lot of work for the company running the contest, such as my coloring page contest.

Chinese Dress Coloring Contest

$100 Coloring Contest for Chinese and Vietnamese Dresses by EliteDresses.com! Contest ends Chinese New Years 2009!

Prize - 1st Prize is $100 Cash for both the Vietnamese and Chinese Dresses Coloring Pages (ie there will be a first prize for the Chinese Dresses, and a first prize for the Vietnamese Dresses). 2nd and 3rd prizes are free dresses from EliteDresses (customers choice of a Chinese or Vietnamese Dress).

Judging:

Details:
On the back please write the artist's name, age, parent's name and E-Mail address, and home city and state. The artist should be 10 years or younger. It should not be as some of the craft projects I have seen that definitely had a lot of help from Mom or Dad in my daughter's class (a working scale model saw mill in 5th grade was suspicious). Any material can be used for coloring (crayons, paint, ink, pencil, etc...).

Keeping children occupied at Weddings

At a wedding I went to there was a couple of children just roaming around the side article so bored.  So my daughter was nice enough and entertained one of them, and finally the Father entertained the other one after a while.

To bad I did not have these coloring pages done at the time and even a coloring booklet that can be distributed to your smaller guests to keep them busy during the wedding.

Piano Competition

Yesterday my daughter was in her first Piano Competition and it was interesting to see what the other competitors wore. Since she was playing a piece that was very dynamic, buying her an ice coffee that got her a bit wired helped ;-)
