Is it polyester?  Is it silk?

It can actualy be either.  Originally it was silk.  Per Wikidpeida, its a crisp, smooth woven fabric.

FedEx Next Day verses USPS Express Mail

I am adding a shipping option for FedEx Next Day.

I have mixed feelings on it because of the cost, but when a customer absolutely needs it there Next Day, FedEx is the best option.

Express Mail is about half the price and it usually works 98% of the time.  For some areas of the US it's 2 days (Express Mail Commitments to check online).  I had one case where a dress was needed for a play, I sent it Express Mail and it did not get there the Next Day. And it was needed by 11AM the next morning.  So I paid for FedEx Early Morning Delivery ($85 at the time) to get a dress there on time.  The other dress finally got delivered the 2nd day by Express Mail and I could get a refund, but I am still out the extra cost for FedEx Next Day Early Morning.

The History of A Flower Girl

Long time ago, flower girls were in service to a bride and groom of Ancient Rome; carrying sheaths of wheat and herbs for blessings of fertility and prosperity.

Several years later,  Elizabethan brides and grooms would have a flower girl in their wedding procession immediately following a group of merry musicians.  This flower girl would carry a silver bride's cup adorned in ribbons and holding a gilded rosemary branch.  The entire path from the the bride's home to the officiating church was carpeted in rose petals and soft rushes.  Many tiny bouquets were prepared as gifts to wedding guests and the bride's family home was decorated with knotted ropes full of blossoms and greenery.

Throughout Western Europe, the tradition of child attendants in the wedding was not limited to a flower girl and ring bearer; but to the entire group of attendants to the wedding party.  This tradition will carry forth at present times in many royal weddings and society weddings of Western Europe.

The Victorian vision of the flower girl is perhaps our most vivid.  She is the young innocent in all white with perhaps a sash of colored satin or silk.  This flower girl will carry a beautifully decorated basket full of fresh blooms to welcome the newly married couple from the wedding altar.

In modern times, brides often select flower girl attire that mirrors their own beautiful wedding gown.  In times past, flower girls simply wore white frocks that were somewhat practical and intended for future use.  Today, flower girls will wear colors to match bridesmaids, some flower girls will wear a miniature version of the bride's own gown.

While fashion and tradition will forever evolve back and forth; the flower girl herself remains a consistent favorite within the wedding party.  She is the sentimental connection between childhood and womanhood; and the whimsical reminder to all on-lookers of how magical and brief is innocence and childhood.  And of course, the flower girl suggests to us all, including the bride and groom, how beautiful it is to have both children and love within the family. This is why brides give importance on the flower girl dresses as well.

Sizing Crazyness

This is so true!

In one store, you’re a Size 4, in another a Size 8, and in another a Size 10 — all without gaining an ounce.

Have I mentioned Size Charts are a headache!  And I don't trust them, unless I actually did the measurements.

A simple question - When a dress has a high waist, where do you measure the waist?

Where the skirt meets the upper part of the dress?  Or where the actual waist would be?

My vote is for where the actual waist would be.

And different styles fit differently even from the same brand!  And if different brands, there can be a definite difference in size!

Few Facts About Mother's Day

Even before Mother's day celebration was popularized, it was campaigned by Ann Jarvis but she died before Mother's day celebration was accepted. Few years later following her death, her daughter Anna Marie Jarvis continued her mother's advocacy to promote Mother's day as an annual holiday that celebrates motherhood and maternal bonds in recognition of all the mothers. She delivered 500 white carnation to local mothers and it was said that was the starting point of the celebration. Later, people has been accustomed to give mothers a white carnation during Mother's day which was officially celebrated as a holiday every 2nd Sunday of May. Due to the shortage of white carnation flowers, people were encouraged to wear white carnation if their mothers are still alive and wear red if their mother has passed away.

Why carnation you ask? It's Ann Jarvis' favorite flowers and in honor of her, her daughter chose them to give to the mothers. Some would say that Mother's Day was highly commercialized but personally I see nothing wrong about it since it has a noble intention. Mother's day is celebrated to thank all mothers for the love and sacrifices they have given to the family. It is there to give honor to all mothers and their contribution to society.

This 2011, mother's day is celebrated on May 08, 2011. Are you ready for a nice celebration for Mom? Get your kids to wear only the prettiest girls' dresses on that day. No need to buy expensive ones, we got you covered on that one. Check out next week's sale them: MOTHER'S DAY SALE! :)

Wrong Addresses - Sad Situation

If a customer puts a wrong zip code sometimes the software we have will catch it. We then call the customer, unless its very obvious. Obvious being the bill to zip code was put in the ship to zip code with different cities and states for each.

Another time the mailing software asked if a street was West or East, so we called the customer and they replied it did not matter.

Another time the address was so new that that the mailing software did not include it.

If the software we use does not catch it, we don't find out till the package is returned to us. The Postal Service does not send any notification of a problem with an order till its returned to us.
